Interchange

Interchange is a family-centered, two–phased group exchange between two international CISV Chapters where youth delegates and an adult leader travel and home stay with partners of the same age, gender and general interests. The delegation and their families then reciprocate, becoming hosts to its partners. Delegations may consist of six to 12 participants, with age categories of 12-13, 13-14, or 14-15 years old. Visits are generally 2-4 weeks in length. Interchanges may be completed within one summer, or as a summer/winter program, or over two consecutive summers. The family plays a vital role in the Interchange Program. Each participant lives in the host partner’s house which allows the participant to become a member of the family. This program enables not only the participants, but the entire family, to form lasting friendships and learn about different ways of life, social structures and cultures. Delegations experience typical family life and also meet for CISV group activities throughout the visit.
