Volunteer Opportunities
Teams needing more people:
- Fundraising Team (contact Virginia Hamilton at vahamilton@mac.com)
- Raffle Job: Are you interested in helping to raise funds for our Village this summer? Here is a perfect way to get involved. We are looking for an individual to lead the raffle (possibly to turn into an annual event). Responsibilities will include meeting with the JB leadership to determine the prizes and approach, creating the raffle tickets, distributing the tickets, collecting the proceeds and announcing the winner. We may have corporate donations for the prizes so it will involve coordination with our Lead Fundraiser for Corporate Donations. Timing is February to April. Contact: Michele Macpherson (mdmacpherson@sbcglobal.net)
- Restaurant Outing Coordinator: Are you interested in helping to raise funds for our Village this summer? Here is a perfect way to get involved. We are looking for an individual to lead the restaurant outings. We would like to arrange 3 restaurant evenings with 1-2 locations per evening. This would involve filling out the forms with Chevy's (and possibly one other restaurant), working with the Board to communicate to our members and following up with Chevy's after the events. It is a very straightforward process with Chevy's and we could make a lot of money with your organizational skills if you choose to take this on. Contact: Michele Macpherson (mdmacpherson@sbcglobal.net)
- T-Shirt Coordinator: We'd love to have you consider organizing our t-shirt sales, which involves ordering merchandise, working with the t-shirt company to come up with new designs, and getting the word out to our members about what is for sale. The majority of work involved in this role takes place in spring and summer when new shirts are ordered and then sold to our traveling delegates and to the local camp we are hosting. Contact: Virginia Hamilton (vahamilton@mac.com)
- Passport Village 2008 Team (Need corporate sponsors and marketing. Contact Virginia Hamilton at vahamilton@mac.com)
- Summer Village volunteers (kitchen, laundry, transportation, etc.) (contact campplanners@cisvsf.org) . See details at the Village Hosting page.
A word about volunteering for CISV:
Thank you all again for your support of CISV. You are why CISV is successful!!
Our board is pleased to report that our chapter is doing well and has experienced increased participation every year for the last few years. To those members who volunteered in earlier years, the current board sends its thanks. Your efforts allowed our chapter's growth and laid the foundation for a new generation of children to participate in our programs. Clearly volunteerism is the cornerstone of CISV. Our chapter would simply not exist if not for your work in the past as well as our current dedicated volunteers.
To those members who are relatively new to CISV, not only does volunteerism keep our chapter alive and growing, but it can also make a difference to your child's future opportunities with CISV. The reality is that volunteerism is one of many factors considered during program selection and it can be "tiebreaker" when multiple applicants are qualified for a program. Volunteerism (or lack thereof) is definitely noticed when a child is applying for a second program or if a younger sibling applies for a program.
If you volunteer for a job, please take initiative to get involved as much as you can. If you volunteer for a team, call the team chairperson and ask what you can do to help or better yet, suggest actions you could take. If you don't know who to contact in order to volunteer, please contact our chapter President, Virginia Hamilton and she will point you to the right person, at vahamilton@mac.com.
Best regards,
Your CISV San Francisco Chapter Board
